How TRUEMALE was started

I’m Kunal Gurung, from a small village called Gendrapara in Banarhat, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.
Back in 2018, I started my first business with thrift clothes. Honestly, it didn’t work out because people weren’t that familiar with thrifting then. After six months, I shifted gears and started a t-shirt printing business. I was creating my own designs, printing them in-house, and for a while, it was going really well. But after two years, I faced a lot of challenges and couldn’t sustain it. Eventually, I had to shut it down.
After that, I worked as a digital marketing head in different industries like travel and more. But deep down, I always had one constant passion — fragrances. I loved collecting perfumes and exploring different scents.
In 2024, something small but life-changing happened. My cousin tried one of my perfumes and when I told him the price, he was shocked — “Why is it so expensive?” That moment made me curious. I started researching why perfumes cost so differently, what makes some cheap and others so premium.
One day while talking with a friend, he mentioned that in India only one or two brands are really doing well in fragrances, and yet the industry is growing fast. He also said something that stuck with me — “As Indians, we need perfumes that give real value for money.”
That was the spark. I realized I could combine my passion for fragrances with my entrepreneurial drive. And that’s how TRUEMALE was born — a brand created to bring quality, long-lasting perfumes at fair prices, made for people who hustle, dream big, and want to smell unforgettable without spending a fortune.
